There has been a lot of talk about Artificial Intelligence (Google BARD) lately, especially after Open AI launched its revolutionary ChatGPT chatbox. ChatGPT was launched on November 30, 2022, by San Francisco-based OpenAI, also the creator of DALL. E 2 and Whisper AI. Initially, it was a free service, but recently it launched a premium feature that claimed availability during high demand, faster response, and priority access to new features.

With an overflowing 100 million users in just two months, Chat GPT has caused quite a rage since its launch. It has even been hailed as the end of Google and other search engines. Microsoft is now looking to integrate the open AI chatbox into Office 365 and Bing search. Google management themselves referred to ChatGPT as “code red” since the AI-powered platform had received a favorable response from users all around the world.

 

It became a do-or-die moment for Google, whose profitable web search service risks being outcompeted by artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots—even if those chatbots currently have problems consistently returning accurate and useful results. In order to compete with ChatGPT, Google has announced its own chatbot, BARD, on February 6, 2023.

 

Google BARD was first made available to its “trusted users” as the first step. Later, it was made available to selected users from the waiting list in the US and UK. It has yet to be made available to users in other countries.

 

Google BARD is an AI-powered chatbot that can respond to various inquiries in a conversational manner, similar to ChatGPT. It uses its own Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA). According to Google BARD uses online information to give fresh, high-quality replies. LaMDA, Google’s language model built on Transformer, a neural network architecture, is at the heart of Google’s chatbot.

 

Google LaMDA is designed to be a natural and open-ended conversation agent that can understand and generate language in a more human-like way. It can process complex sentences, answer difficult questions, and generate natural-sounding responses to open-ended questions. As far as the users are concerned, the major difference between ChatGPT and Google BARD is that BARD can draw its responses from the internet, pulling in real-time data, which is pretty appealing, given that ChatGPT is still convinced it’s 2021.

 

In its current form, Google BARD is a standalone utility rather than a function of Google Search. You can open a chat with the AI, and the things you say during a single session will be remembered, allowing you to use the context of earlier questions to get more refined answers from Bard. You can even press the chatbot for clarity when the information it gives you seems off, and it will correct itself and apologize.

 

While AI chatbots like Google BARD, ChatGPT-4, and others can provide speedy responses, they may not always be accurate. This is because their answers can be influenced by a variety of factors, such as biases in the datasets used to train them, outdated or conflicting information, or even fabricated facts generated by the AI itself. Although these AI-powered technologies can help you work more efficiently, they cannot match the authenticity and expertise of a human professional.
